Pair of fossilized fern fronds, Pecopteris sp. Pennsylvanian, from Vigo County, Indiana. These fossils are from plants that flourished over 300 million years ago. Pecopteris first appeared in the Devonian period, but flourished in the Carboniferous, especially the Pennsylvanian period.
